Warm, tender, and dusted with a crunchy oat-studded crumb, this Apple Crumb Cake is a perfect dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups peeled, diced apples (about 3 medium apples)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. Toss the peeled, diced apples with the teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  4. Whisk melted butter with the eggs in a separate bowl until smooth.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Fold in the cinnamon-coated apples.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Combine brown sugar, rolled oats, and additional melted butter in a small bowl for the crumb topping. Sprinkle over the batter.
  8. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool slightly before cutting. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute melted coconut oil for butter and use an egg replacer. Use firm, crisp apples for best texture.
